Suur tunnustäht sai nähtavaks taevas: naine, riietatud päikesesse, ning kuu tema jalge all, ning pärg kaheteistkümnest tähest tema peas. Ja ta oli lapseootel ning kisendas tuhudes ja piinles sünnitusvaludes. Taevas sai nähtavaks teine tunnustäht, ennäe: suur tulipunane lohe, kellel oli seitse pead ja kümme sarve ning ta peadel seitse peaehet. Ta saba pühkis ära kolmandiku taevatähti ning viskas need maa peale. Ja lohe seisatas naise ees, kes oli sünnitamas, et niipea kui ta on sünnitanud, süüa ära ta laps.
